First impressions!

ALRIGHT SO first of all Dantalion's initial impression of all BE=DE's is unfortunately colored by the fact he had exactly one (1) encounter with a BE=DE before in which he got into an argument so his general impression of BE=DE so far is like..... nnnnot the best. Cause Dantalion is very much "if one person from this group is an Ass then every person from this group is Probably Similar" which is just kind of like. A major flaw in his character but I digress,

So for that reason he's like already very slightly on edge with Rean, but also like... in general he's on edge about sensitIV. Especially when it comes to BE=DE and Avante vs sensitIV cause again bad past experiences where he's had to defend his unit.

I KNOW A LOT OF THIS IS JUST RAMBLING SORRY I HAD A POINT, the point is! His impression about Rean is just going to be bad from the get-go. Even though he knows like, logically, Rean is a newbie and also Rean has no idea what's going on/what will probably go on... but also Rean is like. Nosey. And then he felt weirdly bullied?? It was weird, their exchange has been weird so far. (I also just like. Forgot that Dantalion was the one who called himself a dog. But in fairness I guess Dantalion probably did too at least that's how I played it off,)

Anyways he's also like, slowly getting the impression that actually Rean is a lot like Hiryuu... in that he's just. Really caring. About everyone. And like that's valid sure you can be that way, but ultimately he thinks it's going to bite Rean in the ass.... like he's already got the impression that eventually team relations are going to break down. He just doesn't really know if he wants to scare the newbie so he's being a squirrel dipshit about it.

A part of him just also wants to keep Rean at arms distance just by sheer reflex because of 1. aforementioned BE=DE nerves, and 2. aforementioned similarity to Hiryuu he's been down this loving protagonists path it's distressing.

Dantalion's in kind of a weird place with Yasuragi in that he's not really sure if like.. they're friends? At all? Like if someone were to ask him what he thought about Yasuragi he'd be like "oh yeah, he's pretty cool." but then if he thinks about it more than the initial impression of "really beautiful guy who is super smooth and really talented" he like... starts to question, does Yasuragi even like me? He wants Yasuragi to like him honestly even if he's not sure why he wants Yasuragi to like him...... it's probably just cause he's gay.

Most of the time he's also pretty relaxed around Yasuragi like. You know. Until he isn't. It's funny cause Yasuragi pokes at him so subtly that he's not even like... aware he's being poked, unlike sometimes when people poke at him and he's aware he's getting poked but he's too much of an idiot to think "hey maybe I shouldn't react to getting poked".

HONESTLY HE'S JUST SO CURIOUS ABOUT YASURAGI? But he keeps getting this impression like he's a pain. But it doesn't really... stop him from being nosy. It does stop him from being fussy though. Let him fuss at you--

I think that point where Yasuragi blew smoke into his face was the second point that Dantalion really had like a small inkling of "oh god wait i'm gay" but I think that I relayed that poorly in thread. The first was when Yasuragi drew on him, but I also think I relayed that poorly in thread.

Yasuragi is one of the people that he definitely does not want to have see his embarrassing memories shit again. Secretly he is relieved that Yasuragi wasn't there to see the newest one. I'm going to ruin that for him though.

Also he realized that Yasuragi is so short that he can just like. Keep things out of Yasuragi's reach if he ever gets annoyed with him again and I think that's beautiful.

in seriousness Dantalion is def the person he's most comfortable with outside of his own unit, barring Haruto which is a... very different thing... and maybe Blank. like for example Yasuragi likes Hiryuu a lot but is DEFINITELY more careful around her than he is in how he talks to Dantalion. it just feels hard to fuck up and he's fun to tease. these are very important qualities to him

I don't remember what I already said about them for the cr meme on plurk anymore. he'd sleep with Dantalion though. that's probably not surprising but I don't think I've just come out and say it yet so

Non-Iberia songs-wise I also want to say Doreitachi no Eiyuu and Shiseru Eiyūtachi no Tatakai but like... not for the lyrics as much as the feeling they convey? The feeling of struggling against a destiny that dictates you will suffer, but in doing so you effectively just destroy everything around you and suffer anyways.

Really thinking about it, as much as Iberia is verymuch #Shoujo Demon Aesthetic, Elefseus' whole theme fits Dantalion a bit more I feel. The whole... "This man is destined to Destroy, and in struggling against his destiny he actually plays right into it."

So probably at the moment Persephone is the sensitIV that Dantalion is closest to, though also in a way the one that Dantalion projects the most impressions onto in exchange I think. Theoretically he knows the most about Persephone than he does everyone else though most of what he sees are traits that he considers to be fragile and in need of some kind of protection. He's seen that Persephone has been taken advantage of repeatedly in his life, he's also seen that Persephone seems to be at the very least physically fragile in some ways (like when he was about to cry after having only a little bit of sleep for example), though also that is in part due to Dantalion's selective processing. Like, yes, he did see Persephone totally stab a guy but to Dantalion that was a reasonable reaction to being clearly abused for years so he's not particularly... alarmed by it? Rather he chooses to focus on the fact that Persephone was abused for so long.

I'm not going to lie Persephone's appearance and also speaking pattern contributes to Dantalion's general impression that they're overall gentle and need to be protected. A lot of his attraction to Persephone is just that, really. Like a misplaced mother hen instinct combined with wanting to be near something soft and loving and warm, at least to him.

He understands that Persephone is a bit... weird and can be alarming at times, but he hasn't gotten as much as the alarming as say. Yasuragi has I guess. Or if he has he just generally accepts it because he simply accepts Persephone as a person. Persephone could probably stab someone in the kitchen and he'd be like "well they probably deserved that".

He does enjoy that Persephone is easy and willing to give affection at the drop of a hat, though he hasn't picked up on anything even remotely nearing like... manipulation (i use this word very lightly out of lack of any better term right now) (you know like. oh, dantalion is losing his shit, better pet him to calm him down. just that sort of thing.) I dunno if he ever will he's not bright and he's really easy.

I hope all of that made sense I'm actually quickly losing energy again but I wanted to respond to you before I passed out. REVERSE??? if i missed anything you were particularly curious about just say so too,

Persephone does not like the idea of playing favorites in unit, but despite that, Loki is his favorite sensitIV, especially since Loki does know the most about him (and they have that promise, which Persephone fully intends to keep). Ironically, while Dantalion has selective processing about Persephone's more...alarming...traits, he's hitting on stuff that Persephone probably does need, emotionally (and would have helped him so much if he'd gotten them before).

But yes. Persephone is very fond of Dantalion, especially since like...he's super affection-starved, both giving and receiving, and Dantalion is easy about receiving it. And accepts him as he is, too. He just really likes him and wants to protect him, especially because he knows that he's hot-tempered and not bright and prone to making rash decisions.

MAN REALTALK WHEN HE FIRST STARTED CHASING AFTER OGATA he actually was like "well this is annoying but maybe this will be fun. maybe i can fight this guy whoever he is. i feel like a fight." and then Ogata decided to be a prick and so Dantalion was just Actually Mad then.

Ogata is... frustrating. Dantalion feels like he's struggling to gain an upperhand with him often which is Frustrating. He also thinks Ogata is... dangerous. Ogata's teammate says he's "good once you get to know him", but there's just... a part of Ogata that Dantalion recognizes as dangerous even if he doesn't quite understand why yet.

I mean it obviously doesn't help that Ogata appears to be very flippant about possibly killing people?? And that he pretty much openly admitted that if it didn't paint a target on WC's back he would have betrayed.

Of course Dantalion isn't too dissimilar. He's not a literal sociopath but he similarly believes that most people do not have good intentions..... so when people try to tell him Ogata does have good intentions he's just like, [ceiling man ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT]
